Rūmaki Karakia | Karakia Tangihanga

Karakia Tangihanga | Te Matau-ā-Māui
Rūmaki Karakia are intensive 2-3 day residential noho providing an immersion experience for formation in Theology, Karakia, Mihinaretanga, and Ministry Practice.
Karakia Tangihanga – from Tuku, to Karakia before a funeral, to the Karakia Nehu, through to Takahī Whare and Hura Pōhatu – meet whānau in the midst of the human event, perhaps of all human events, that concerns us most deeply: death. When it approaches – our own or that of someone close – it becomes our principal and overriding concern. Through loss, shock, and grief which requires time and care to heal, these karakia aim to strengthen our assurance that Te Atua’s love continues through our loss and grieving.
Rūmaki Karakia are aimed at Kaikarakia and those accepted into training to become Kaikarakia but are open on a case-by-case basis to all minita in Te Tairāwhiti.
