Te Rīpeka Pūāwai | Te Moananui-ā-Kiwa Study Pilgrimage

Te Rīpeka Pūāwai | The Lotus and the Cross: Te Moananui-a-Kiwa Study Pilgrimage is a spiritual fononga and study tour of the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (HKSKH). This haerenga will explore the history of Christianity and Anglicanism in Hong Kong and Macau, from the arrival of the Rongopai, to the establishment of the Anglican Church, through to the expansion of Anglican missions and ministries into the present making connections between shared colonial histories and indigenous expressions of being Anglican.

This course is tailored to, and space is offered exclusively for, students from Aotearoa-NZ and Polinisia. This gives us the freedom to direct and deliver all lotu (services at significant sites and a daily rhythm of prayer) and wānanga akoranga (daily lessons and reflections on our own learning and experience) during the haerenga in our own lea fakafonua (language), that is, from our own home contexts.
